Feeling left out?
Fear no more.
The Idaho Statesman reported that Rex Rammell, an Idaho gubernatorial candidate, issued a formal apology last week about his exclusion of non-Mormons from his upcoming meetings dealing with the so-called "White Horse Prophecy," (see our previous diary A "White ... Meeting" to Save the Nation - Thanks Rex).
Rammell said he was wrong to assume that nonmembers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wouldn't be interested in hearing his message regarding a prophecy about saving the United States Constitution. He said he hopes the meetings bring people of all faiths together.
"The LDS Church has distanced itself from Rammell and does not consider the prophecy as doctrine," the Statesman story says.
"Wigglin' Rex," wrote banjomike under our post on 43rdState Blues.
Below are some comments from the Rexburg Standard Journal's story -- responses to coverage that banjomike said was a bit more neutral in tone than the Statesman's or the Post-Register's stories:
" Wow...this guy is one piece of work. He is just trying to come up with ways to get himself known to the public, and unfortunately those ways are just humiliating him. I feel bad for his family. Bless their hearts. I would be hiding under cover when I go out in public from humiliation if I were his wife or daughters. WOW "
" Uh Rex, you forgot to apologize to Mormon Women!
You invited Mormon men, then apologized to non-Mormons for excluding them. Apparently in your exclusionary world, Mormon women are still completely off your radar. "
" Maybe he should listen to his wife. Or perhaps nearly the entire citizenry of Eastern Idaho and go quietly back to his life. Other good men will step forward. "
Now, that's some great reviews, right there. If Rex was a movie, they'd be wanting their money back. So much for his appeal to the faithful- nobody likes being pwned, or pandered to so blatantly.
He's a masterful baker of earthworm pie, for sure. The more you slice it, the creepier it gets.
The meetings are 7 p.m. Jan. 19, Hampton Inn, Idaho Falls and 7 p.m. Jan. 21, Marriott Hotel, Rexburg. They are free and open to all.
Are any of you going, now?
